A beautiful month for antique fairs

Here we are, three days into May and a weekend coming up! What's happening in the antique and vintage world? Indulge in some retail therapy while engaging in recycling and enjoying the outdoors.

May 8 - Rose Bowl Flea Market, where the stars love to shop. If you like to go shopping with Mom like I do, this is a great adventure for Mother's Day. www.rgcshows.com.

May 8 - If you're in Northern California, there's the Sacramento Antique Faire! www.sacantiquefaire.com.

May 14-15 - Lots going on, from Reno to Beaverton, OR and Watsonville, CA.
Tanner's Marketplace holds their Antiques, Collectibles, Arts and Crafts Show all weekend at the Reno Livestock Events Center in Reno. wwwtannersreno.com.

The very popular twice-monthly Beaverton Flea will be held May 14 in the parking lot of Curiosities Vintage and Union Vintage. www.curiositiesvintage.com

The twice-annual Goat Hill Fair is also May 14-15 at the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds in Watsonville. www.goathillfair.com

The Santa Monica Airport Outdoor Antique and Collectible Market on May 22 is another place you'll probably glimpse celebrity shoppers. This event is held twice a month, the first and fourth Sundays. www.santmonicaairportantiquemarket.com

Martinez, CA holds their downtown Vintage Market  twice a year in the historic old town area, where shoppers are also surrounded with a number of antique stores. This year's May event is the Saturday, 21st. www.mainstreetmartinez.org.

Another Old Town district that cherishes its heritage is Clovis, CA, and their events include the twice-annual Glorious Junk days, coming up on Sunday, May 29.
